There are things you’ll always need, like wood for building or food for eating, but don’t be a hoarder. Being prepared is nice, but (to paraphrase Alanis Morissette) having four stacks of stone when all you need is some flint doesn’t help you. Just pick up whatever you need to accomplish your next goal. You’ll also eventually become encumbered by weight (that takes quite a bit, though). Your inventory only has 32 slots, and your armor, clothes, and tools occupy several of them. On that point … Focus on what you need to collect You don’t have to fill your pockets with everything you find, though. Pick up at least one of everything to unlock new recipes. There’s a tiny arrow in the lower left corner of your minimap that indicates the current wind direction. The rules might be subtle, but learning them will make your job easier. Not at the MomentĪt the moment of writing this, there is no known way to increase your workbench level to 6, with 5 being the max.Valheim is good at telling you what you’re supposed to do next, or at least that there’s something you’re supposed to be doing. The Toold Shelf will be unlocked once you have obtained Iron and Obsidian in the Swamp and Mountain biomes respectively. You need to build it near a forge as well. Chop a birch tree with a Bronze Axe to obtain fine wood. Building NameĪn Adze will be unlocked once you obtain Fine Wood. Kill a deer, which is best done with a bow, to unlock this blueprint. You can build a tanning rack once you get your first Deer Hide. Gather Flint by the shorelines and in shallow water. You can building a chopping block with the hammer once you gather enough Flint. This level can be attained by building all 4 Workbench upgrades listed below: Level 2 (Chopping Block) Workbench Level 5 is required to upgrade certain tools and armor. Each item in its vicinity will increase the workbench level by one, and you can tell if an item affects the workbench by checking if glowing lights appear linking it to the workbench when your reticule is on it. You can upgrade the workbench level by placing certain objects in its vicinity. This costs nothing and will fully replenish your item's durability. You can repair your gear by interacting with the workbench then pressing the glowing hammer icon in the lefthand side of the right menu. List of Buildings (Structures) Repair Tools and Gear It will allow you to build shelter and then a bed for a respawn area, or fortifications against raids. You can build structures around Workbenches. It increases an items stats per upgrade for a small resource cost. You can upgrade gear by selecting the Upgrade tab in the right menu when interacting with the workbench. You can craft more advanced weapons, armor, and tools using the workbench. The workbench enables you to do the following: Craft Weapons, Armor, and Tools Obtained by chopping trees or from picking up branches on the ground.
